To transcribe or not to transcribe? That is the question.
Apologies to Mr. Shakespeare! When launching a podcast, there are as many ways to produce and market the new podcast as there are podcasters.
For me, the answer is definitely, “Yes.” Some of the top podcasts recommend posting the transcripts of each session on the website. This can provide rich content that is accessible by search engines and can enhance the site’s SEO score.
Just as important as boosting SEO rankings and searchability, some audience members prefer to read or search written transcripts, rather than listening to the whole podcast again. This is particularly important if they are looking for a particular passage, reference or resource.
To outsource or not?
Again, this is a resounding, “Yes.” I think transcribing the podcasts is a perfect task to outsource and I found a great way to do it. I set up an account on Upwork, posted a job ad, quickly got multiple offers from freelancers, and selected one to try. What a great experience! The transcript was delivered quickly, it’s very accurate, and the price was extremely reasonable.
